Museums and fashion: a creative escapade for FBA students

The FBA students traveled to the Campus of the University of Navarra in Pamplona where, among other things, they were able to visit the Art Museum. In addition, they also visited the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum in Guetaria (Guipúzcoa).

Solving in group several challenges related to the future of fashion companies in a Creativity workshop and nurturing personal inspiration in direct contact with art, are two of the main objectives of this first study trip of the FBA students. On October 7 and 8 they were in Pamplona and Guetaria.

In the halls of the University of Navarra Museum, ISEM students traced among contemporary paintings and sculptures the connection points of some fashion creations of recent seasons; such as Zara's capsule collection, dedicated to Antonio Tàpies in 2020 or the styling of TELVA in its recent 1000th issue, which includes a tribute to the costumbrista profiles captured by painters and photographers. A parallelism that is also discovered in the graphic work of José Ortiz-Echagüe, bequeathed in 1981 to the University of Navarra and exhibited in a space in the Museum.

In addition to a brief meeting with the Vice Rector for Students, Rosalía Baena, the trip included a Creativity workshop with Professor Javier Antón to delve into the different narratives of fashion and a visit to the Balenciaga Museum in Getaria on Saturday afternoon. In this town in Guipuzcoa, birthplace of the artist, the students enjoyed the exhibition "Character" that covers three complete decades of his creations and the photographic exhibition of Tom Kublin, who documented several collections of the Balenciaga House in Paris.
