ISEM has taken over the ownership of the Global Fashion Conference (GFC), an international benchmark in applied research in the fashion sector founded by Isabel Cantista, dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Universidade Lusíada (Porto).
Thanks to this donation, ISEM will become responsible for the GFC from 2027, after a transition phase that includes collaboration on the 2026 edition. "The alliance with ISEM ensures the continuity and growth of a project to which I have dedicated more than 15 years, now under the backing of an academic institution of international prestige, Cantista declared during the event. It is a way to consolidate the legacy of the GFC, bringing new resources, ideas and vision."
The Global Fashion Conference, which has been held since 2008, has brought together hundreds of academics, researchers and industry professionals in its various editions held at universities across Europe. The event has stood out for its interdisciplinary approach, the scientific rigor of its publications and its commitment to fashion committed to innovation, sustainability and humanist values.
With this addition, ISEM takes another step forward in its consolidation as a center of reference in the study of fashion from a business and ethical perspective. "The Global Fashion Conference fully fits with our mission: to train and connect leaders in the fashion industry from academic rigor, international collaboration and an ethical vision of innovation," stressed Teresa Sádaba, dean of ISEM.
The most recent edition of the GFC was held in October 2024 in Bucharest, Romania, in collaboration with the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. ISEM is already working with Prof. Cantista to prepare the next edition, scheduled for 2026 in Copenhagen.
