The University closes the sports year with the traditional Sports Gala
Conrado Durántez, director of the Spanish Olympic Academy, received the "Values of Sport" award.
The Sports Service of the University of Navarra celebrated the traditional Sports Gala that puts an end to the sports course 2012/2013. During the event, awards were presented to the most outstanding athletes of this season's competitions, as well as other special awards and a distinction to the sponsoring companies.
Among the winners were the Goimendi Residence Hall, which received the Rector's Trophy for the Best Residence Hall; the Faculty of Medicine and the Larraona Residence Hall, for having had the highest participation of students in sports activities, and the Faculty of Communication, for being the winner in results of the Rector's Trophy.
In the individual awards, which are given to the most important personalities and athletes of the course, the award for "Best Athlete of the Year", which went to rugby player and Tecnun student Iñigo Arnáez, and the "Values of Sport" award, which went to Conrado Durántez, director of the Spanish Olympic Academy, who throughout the course has helped and participated in activities organized by the Center for Olympic Studies of the University of Navarra, stood out.
The Sports Gala also had a solidarity motif with the presentation and support of the Chep project, focused on this occasion on health coverage for children in extreme poverty in Limuru, Kenya.
Among the public could be seen personalities such as the delegate of the Government Carmen Alba; the counselor of Social Policies Iñigo Alli; the deputy director of Sports Pedro Arozamena; or the vice president of the IOC Carmelo Paniagua, who shared with the students and awardees the closing of the sports course 2012/2013 of the University of Navarra.
