Alumni Christmas Cup 2021

ISEM dresses up for the party while respecting security measures

Last Thursday, December 2, ISEM dressed up to celebrate the Alumni Christmas Cup 2021, which could not be organized last year due to health restrictions. The meeting began with a discussion between the attendees and Juan Morera, CEO of Brownie, moderated by Teresa Sádaba.

Brownie was founded in 2006 by her father, Juan Morera, a textile entrepreneur, and her mother, Mercedes Ortega, who had owned several fashion stores in Barcelona. The reason was due to a very simple issue: they were having trouble finding clothes for their teenage daughter, among the options offered by girls' and women's clothing brands. "Our clothes fit very well because we do a lot of fittings before we put any garment on sale," Morera explains.

A first store in Barcelona gave way to others, and today Brownie is a fashion company with more than 80 stores around the world, catering to every woman who feels young. The Morera family continues to run the business; in fact, their son Juan is now the CEO of the company. The colloquium touched on many topics, but the work-family relationship was one of the ones that raised the most questions from the audience.

For Juan Morera, working with his mother, his sister, his wife or his sister-in-law is fortunate, "because this business is my father's dream. He passed away in 2016, a few days before Brownie opened its first corner in El Corte Inglés, something he would have loved to see."

After the discussion, Teresa Sádaba gave way to the drink, which for health reasons took place with the attendees seated.
