Students of ISEM's Executive Master in Fashion Business Administration (FBA) participated in a workshop with industry professionals to learn about the peculiarities of the labor market in the fashion industry and learn the keys to face the recruitments and interviews that await them throughout the course. During the day, they were accompanied by Pilar Esteban, head of careers, and María Martín-Montalvo, director of institutional relations of ISEM, who explained the operation of Career Services within the FBA.
"It is essential that from the beginning of the course our FBA students understand very well the life cycle of the product and the phases of creation of a collection with the idea that they internalize it in order to lay the foundations of their career in the fashion business," says Pilar Esteban and specifies that "for those who come from other sectors, which are the vast majority, this session is essential to understand how the industry works and what their place is. For those who already come from the sector, it helps them to broaden their horizons and their vision of the industry".
Career opportunities in fashion
Ángel Lobo, People Business Partner of Desigual, gave a session on the various career opportunities that exist within the fashion industry and revealed to the FBA students which profiles are most in demand today. In addition, he taught them the peculiarities of a good CV and gave them keys to focus it well towards the fashion industry.
This sector presents an added difficulty in that there is no homogeneous catalog of positions. This implies a greater effort, both for the candidate and for the recruiter, at the time of the search. Especially in the product department. "That is why it is so important for our students to have a good understanding of the internal workings of each company," says Pilar Esteban of ISEM.
How to make a good interview
After Ángel Lobo's speech, students were able to enjoy the testimony of Ainhoa Chamorro and Sofía Sánchez from YOU ARE UNICORN, one of the best Human Resources consultants in the sector that works for both national and international companies. Both professionals helped the students with advice on how to face a job interview and different tips on how to create a good impression and generate impact.
In addition, they placed special emphasis on the candidate's attitude and the preparation before the interview. Therefore, they recommended all students to perform a SWOT analysis of themselves and to analyze their digital impact on networks and the importance of these for the network.
