Fashion Innovation Day 2025: A new dive into the world of AI

20 | 03 | 2025

Once again, the Fashion Innovation Day organized by Atelier by ISEM, brought together more than a hundred experts, leading companies and startups to analyze how technology and innovation are reshaping the fashion industry.

Speakers shared their perspectives on emerging technology trends and the strategic role of artificial intelligence in the evolution of the industry.

The first to take the stage was Prof. Sampsa Samila, academic director of the Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Management Initiative at IESE Business School. Samila's explanation focused on the impact of AI on business management, stressing that organizations that do not incorporate artificial intelligence will lose competitiveness: "Managers of the future will lead organizations that are not fully human. The key is to learn how to integrate AI as a collaborator within companies".

Next, Gonzalo Martín, CEO of JogoTech, presented the main technological trends that are shaping the course of retail. In his speech, he highlighted the crucial role of RFID as a key technology for "phygital" processes-a concept that merges physical and digital experiences-and stressed the importance of store personnel, not only as salespeople, but as a differentiating factor capable of offering unique and unforgettable experiences to customers.

Finally, Carlos Fernández-Naveira, partner at McKinsey & Company, presented the five archetypes of AI use that are generating tangible value for fashion companies. Among the most relevant cases, he highlighted the improvement in customer interaction, the use of co-pilots to optimize task scheduling, process automation, as well as the creation of creative content with the support of artificial intelligence.

The day, full of debates and learning, made it clear that technological innovation is the immediate future of the fashion industry, opening up new possibilities and opportunities for professionals in the sector.

A recognition of academic excellence in fashion

One of the most significant moments of the morning was the presentation of the International Fashion Science Award 2024 (IFSA) to Thomaï Serdari, professor at NYU Stern School of Business, in recognition of her contributions to the scientific study of fashion.

This award highlights his work in creating innovative research frameworks that explore the intersection between fashion, luxury, sustainability and technology, positioning fashion as a constantly evolving scientific discipline.

Laura Díaz, communications director of Pedro del Hierro-sponsor of the IFSA Award-highlighted Thomaï Serdari's imprint on academic research in fashion.

This award not only celebrates their work, but also highlights the growing importance of research in fashion, a sector traditionally linked to creativity but increasingly moving towards a future based on data, science and innovation.
