SDA Bocconi students study the characteristics of the Spanish fashion industry in ISEM
32 international students of the Master in Fashion, Experience & Design Management carried out the traditional academic exchange between business schools.
The students of the 2013-2014 course of the Master in Fashion, Experience & Design Management of SDA Bocconi (Milan) made an academic stay at ISEM Fashion Business School to learn about the particularities of the Spanish fashion industry.
During the first day, Teresa Sádaba, director of the business school, welcomed the 32 participants of the program. After a welcome, she gave way to Professor Marina Duque, who gave a lecture on the fashion retail system in Spain.
After this introduction to the industry, Ignacio Sierra, corporate general director of Grupo Cortefielexplained the multinational's multi-format distribution strategy. In the afternoon, it was Miguel Giribet, Country Manager of Privalia in Spain, who gave sessions on e-commerce and innovation.

The second day began with a visit to the Inditex Logistics Center located in Meco, Madrid. Ita Catoira, from Institutional Relations, and Raúl Estradera, from Corporate Communications, were in charge of explaining the keys to the business model responsible for the company's success. After this session, everyone was taken on a tour of the center's facilities, where they were able to see first-hand how the distribution process is structured, as well as to see the excellent robotic system that the facilities are equipped with in operation.
Back in the classroom, Luis Lara, professor of Internationalization at ISEM, presented the case study Mangothrough which the students of the Italian school learned in depth about the business structure of another of the most consolidated national fashion companies. Later, Javier Alonso, director of Human Resources of Loewespoke about the history and tradition of this luxury brand. The next day, they visited the flagship store of the firm, in Gran Via, where they also toured its newly opened Loewe Gallery, located in the basement, with the director of the establishment, Armando Salazar.
At the end of the program, they had the opportunity to take a retail tour of Madrid and get to know the most significant, emblematic and characteristic stores in the capital.
The academic stay of the students of the Master in Fashion, Experience & Design Management of SDA Bocconi is part of the collaboration agreement that both schools have maintained for years. In April, the students of ISEM's Executive Master in Fashion Management will travel to Italy to receive part of their international classes and deepen their knowledge of the Italian fashion system, where they will focus on the analysis of brand creation.
